Yesterday I made my way to Bleecker Bob’s Golden Oldies record shop. I was lucky because that was their final day. It was a mixture of joy and sadness, because even though I was able to score some cool rarities is very sad to see a store with so much culture and history have their doors closed by consumerism and greed. Even though I am Brazilian and have been living here such a short time, I have always appreciated the punk culture of New York and any kind of thing involved, neighborhoods, streets, bars, people.. Everything. Every day that passes more old things lose their value for new things. I went on Bleecker Bob’s back in 2006, the same year that the CBGB’s closed… such a pity.
